Well, the darker skies may have set in, but that only means a stronger chance of suds showers! Consequently, we're delighted to have not only Wiper & True making their official debut, but also a fresh dose of Beak bangers and an accompanying Tap Takeover in Balham. Add to that some superb, Summer(remember that?)-ready English Natural Wine from the one, and only Tillingham, and maybe the forecast isn't half bad...

Stalwarts of the scene, since their inception in 2012 Bristol legends Wiper & True are on a "mission to create and share delicious, refined, and carefully considered beers - in the most sustainable way we possibly can".
Moving to a larger premises just 20 minutes walk from the city centre, in the Old Market back in June 2022, has seen them open a beautiful new taproom, designed from the ground up. While adding to the array of reasons to visit the area on a long weekend, it also means we're now finally just about able to get enough beer to spread around the shops.
To celebrate our long-overdue foray into the world of Wiper & True, we have a massive eight(!) different beers that run the style spectrum. From the citrus-flecked, Gluten Free Lemondrop Hill to the aromatic, crispy-clean Tomorrow, an exceptional Lucky Saint-beating Alcohol Free Lager, or the super suppable Small Beer it's clear they've nailed both form and function.
That's not to say there isn't fun and charm imbued into each drop of beer from the gang. The indulgent, cult favourite Milk Shake, Milk Stout is a must try, alongside bready Munich Lager Today, while there's a trio of new specials that have us licking our lips.
Inspired by a twist on the inimitable Margarita cocktail, Rhubarb Sour Sunset Dreams playfully shapeshifts from zesty lime to tangy tartness, and back again with a fruity dose of salinity. Meanwhile, Summer Together sees them pair up with fellow local legends Left Handed Giant. A hazy Pale bound for long, sunny afternoons with notes of vinous white grape, and peach with a crushable citrus bitterness, this shouldn't be a hard sell!
Finally, Simple Things is a classically bold East Coast IPA composed of iconic duo Citra and Simcoe. Think fluffy tangerine, fuzzy apricot and an undertone of herbal blackcurrant. Delish!
To help you get to know our pals at Wiper & True, there are, of course, double loyalty points in-store, or 10% off 6 or more beers on the Webshop. Whatever the weather, or your mood, there's bound to be a future favourite for you!

With each Beak drop live and direct from the source flying out we thought it was nigh on time for another wave of Lewes love. Here we have five hop-forward treats, so fastest fingers first online, or get Citymapper loaded to snag 'em before everyone else does.
Opening proceedings, we have Pale Ale Hum, which is brewed with frankly silly amounts of Idaho 7, Motueka and Cashmere hops along with an experimental yeast strain known for creating beers with voluptuous body and ripe tropical fruit flavours. On the other end of the scale DIPA Pig is all dank pink grapefruit, strawberries and spongy pine forest floors.
And, sandwiched in between we have a triple threat of IPAs. Condensed a little; And is an all-Cashmere affair for sticky honey melon splendour, Winks is more mango and orange juice, with Hats arriving as a whack of pineapple, and resinous, sappy papaya.
More info on those at the link below, but afterwards a little something on a reason to visit the Costa Del Balham...
That's right next Thursday (July 20th), from 5pm we'll be having a good old-fashioned Tap Takeover south of the river in SW12. We'll be pouring the aforementioned Hum, and Pig, plus zesty mandarin monster, NEIPA, Loopa, and that frizzy noble hop great, the Czech Pils, Dest.
In support the fridges will be rammed with Beak bangers, to satiate your takeout needs. Trust us, this one's going to be a whole heap of juicy fun, just arrive early to nab a seat or stool!

On a similarly lauded, hazy tip, but over in the world of wine we have the arrival of English natural pioneers, Tillingham. Set amongst 70 acres of rolling hills and woodlands across from the idyllic hilltop town of Rye, in East Sussex, they've nearly become a household name, and certainly one of the best getaway destinations in the UK.
Situated on a farm that dates back to the 13th century, this lies home to fruit trees, ancient woodland, livestock, and of course vineyards. Sustainably worked, in conjunction with biodynamics, and promoting wider ecological diversity, their progressive approach has arguably put them in an unparalleled position in the landscape.
As such, we're thrilled to have received a small allocation of their eternally-hyped RosΓ© Pet Nat, PN22. A blend of Pinot Noir, Rondo, Phoenix and Seyval this coalesces for a cacophony of bright floral hedgerow fruit, delivered by a soft, cream-peach pΓ©tillance for pure sunshine in glass.
Alongside we also have R, an equally exciting, quaffable red made with whole bunches of Regent grapes loaded into a concrete vat for a two-week carbonic maceration, and then left to settle for 3 months prior to bottling. Light, vibrant and cherry red in appearance this features more berry notes with a supple, cranberry tang. Juicy, ideal slightly chilled, and un-put-downable.
Over on the Webshop, we also have a bit more of a back catalogue, for you Tillingham aficionados. This now includes the rich, waxy Field Blend Two 2022 and Rotwein, a deep, sappy Germanic-inspired blend. Just hit the link below for more info!
Thanks for joining us again & take it easy this weekend! - Team CC
