Forget St Patrick's Day, forget Bonfire Night, forget Christmas (well maybe don't forget Christmas) the biggest, booziest date in the diary is nigh, as our collab with Two Flints, the West Coast Pale wonder Grizzly launches TODAY. We give you the lowdown on our final collaboration for 2023 below.

But, that's not all of course! We have a trio of super specials from Northern Monk, including IPA collabs with Chris (Simpsons Artist) and DEYA, plus an outrageous fudge sundae Stout. Meanwhile, Burnt Mill supply a full dose of hop-forward heaven, spanning the coasts, with plenty of Gluten Free goodness.

Last but not least, our soft launch with the dons at Sho Foo Doh has gone down a storm, and we're delighted to have local legend Fumio and the gang in for the long haul, providing food Thur-Sat at the Wood St Depot. Make sure you give that food a peep, jheeze it's something...

Before we get on with things, a reminder to you South of the river, our official Grizzly party kicks off tonight in Balham, while over in St John's Hill we're delighted to have the exclusive first pour of an Abyss x Baron Double IPA - don't say we don't treat you!

We waxed lyrical about Two Flints this time last week, but it's fair to say they deserve every ounce of praise. Bursting onto the scene, despite only first brewed in their home of Windsor in February they've gone pound-for-pound with those who've been going since day one. In turn, it's been a privilege to help support them along the way.

And, comparisons to Gravity Well, Drop Project and Baron really aren't that far off the mark - though what impressed us most is their consistency across a number of styles. Falling in love with their modern interpretation of West Coast beers, and having never(!) brewed something in the genre we leaned on their expertise to produce something zippy and sessionable together, pairing perfectly with a crispy, (ideally) sunny Winter's day.

Enter Grizzly, a West-Coast-Best-Coast Pale to truly sink your claws into. Not your old skool, caramel-laden, uber-bitter throwback, we opted for a deceptively simple malt base to allow the true star of the show, the hops shine.

Consequently, a sturdy backbone of Pilsner and Vienna Malt was the order of the day with the former reducing any bready malt character covering up that green goodness, and the latter adding a touch of perceived sweetness to balance out any potential sharpness.

Pouring a pin-bright, translucent, golden yellow this is a sight to behold. A lethal combo of A-Listers Simcoe and (the hyped varietal) Rakau provide aromas of crisp tropical fruit like freshly cut pineapple, fuzzy apricot and zingy passion fruit, while a small Chinook dry hop adds a touch of dank, floral pine.

With an assertive, but smooth, bracing bitterness without forgoing any of the juicy, succulent, fruit-laden goodness of New England Pales, this absolutely nails what we love about the contemporary Californian style. Even Goldilocks wouldn't complain, this is one for all the bear family.

Of course, we had to indulge ourselves with a full selection from these rising stars, and we'd like to think two banging new specials and a duo of core range crushers apiece are just the ticket.

First meet Lilo, a soft, luscious, peachy Pale that features Citra and a deft touch of Azacca hops, for a serene, lounge-ready affair. Next, their third-ever DIPA, Big Bella, does everything it says on the juicy tin. Saturated in Nelson Sauvin, and Motueka plus a complex and innovative underpinning of brand new hop products, this is pillowy, fluffy and dangerously quaffable. Think grape Jolly Ranchers, strawberry laces, and oozing, overripe mango.

After something a tad more drinkable? Santiago is their go-to bright, and light Session stunner clocking in at a deceiving 3.8%. While, Alma is a radiant house Pale focussing on balance and sheer drinkability.

We urge you to get to know these cult favourites, and where better to start than our own bear baby, Grizzly?! We're incredibly fortunate to be able to champion everything Two Flints, so grab double loyalty points all this week, or 10% off 6 or more online. You know you want to...

Once again we've been blessed with limited stock of some future classics from up North, so we thought we'd give you the details, before they all fly out...

The first is their Vermont IPA inspired by both the Monks' and DEYA's most beloved entries in Faith and Steady Rolling Man. Combining the recipe of these two classics, this a juicy, haze ode to the beers that gave birth to an insane following.

Though we might be just past the spooky season, we always have time for another devilishly hoppy IPA, and at 6.66% The Witch Doctor, in collaboration with internet-approved Chris (Simpsons Artist) is no different. Packed with Cashmere, Idaho 7, Cascade, Talus and Ekuanot hops, a touch of rye was added to the grist to compliment the deep tangerine, even slightly spicy herbal qualities of those key ingredients.

Reimagining their hit pastry concoction Fudge Sundaze, one of Tom J Newell’s original Patrons Projects releases, they rather surprisingly decided to bring the booze down to a (slightly) more sensible 8.4%. But don't you worry, all of this silliness remains, with a rich and decadent Stout to put holes in your teeth. Expect dense notes of hazelnut, gooey cacao, and vanilla fudge - liquid Nutella? You said it, not us...

We've absolutely relished having more, and more beers from Burnt Mill of late, and it's clear you all feel the same way with how quickly they've been selling. So, here we have five freshies live and direct from the source!

Classic Westy and Gluten Free great Beyond The Firs is all present and correct with bright grapefruit aromas, backed up with subtle piney bitterness. Similarly, GF WCIPA Pacific Crest is another returning favourite with complex resin notes, prickly citrus fruits aplenty and a dank finish.

Then, we move over to the world of New Englands with Clouds Rest, arriving from their greatest hits series, which sees fan favourites make their comeback. Here, slick, fleshy tropical fruits are the order of the day in a DDH Pale package. Dialling things up a tad, their Gardens Of Green IPA series has its latest entry. A fruity medley of Citra and the mysteriously titled HBC630, this packs a moreish, berry-laden punch.

Finally, annual 'Double Stout' with NewbarnsImperial Measures joins the fray. Taking inspiration from the complex, full-bodied Imperial Stouts, this has been moulded from the ground up to still hit that session appeal with all the flavour intact. Luxurious, with roasted coffee aromatics and a robust bitterness they have surely succeeded.

With recent and ongoing residencies at Pretty Decent Beer, All My Friends and FillybrookFumio of Sho Foo Doh is a bit of an East London street food legend. As such, we were pumped to team up with him on an Express menu for our Wood St Depot which now runs from 5-9.30pm on Thursday and Fridays, with service from 1-9.30pm on Saturdays for your all-day enjoyment.

Boasting small plates like sesame panko crusted cauliflower, crunchy renkon crisps, aonori salt fries, and ponzu-honey chicken wings there's a lot to love for a quick bite over a beer or glass of natural wine.

Though, there are of course some belting mains like the mapo miso aubergine or slow cooked pork belly rice bowl, with indulgent support coming from a trio of burgers featuring tofu banh mi, 'fillet o fish' inspired fried sardines, or a succulent pork patty.

With rave reviews from customers (and staff alike), we're thrilled to have a permanent offering to entice you E17 locals. Service is first come, first served, so it's as easy as bringing your friends or family for a treat sometime soon - make sure you swing by!

We hope you see you over a pint or can of Grizzly this weekend! - Team CC
