Partizan really began with an end, more specifically that of founder Andy Smith's career in fine dining. An avid homebrewer he sought to do the most obvious thing, and brew the hard to get, out-there brews encountered on his travels in the US. Soon growing admirers, The Kernel kindly offered to pass on their original brew kit, and upon enlisting the services of Alec Doherty (the artist responsible for those fantastically quirky designs) the brewery took shape. Having stocked their beers from day one, and launching their first can at the end of last year we're overjoyed to introduce five more of their best and brightest in slick new cylindrical form.
With a commitment to the classics Partizanβs flagship lager, their Unfiltered Pilsner, is brewed with yeast from the world's oldest operating brewery, located just north of Munich. With a crisp mouthfeel and an accompanying, slight edge of bitterness this is foamy Pilsner-perfection without the need to get your passport out. For Dee Dee the Bermondsey clan more than double their usual dry-hopping rate for a bolder, juicier, and hazier beer. Layered with tropical, resinous notes, it's punchy sure, but there's also far more craft to it than your average NE Pale.
We're always a sucker for a new kind of sour, and their delightful Passion Berry & Citra is no exception. A newly discovered strain of yeast called Lachancea enables both production of alcohol and lactic acid for a delicate tartness and more complexity than a traditional kettle sour. Ethiopian Passion Berries and Citra hops produce a powerful and unique stone fruit-filled flavour profile to compliment this delectable sour ale. Finally, a fresh batch of their ever-popular, crushable Pale and hefty IPA join the pack, though these are sure not to hang around.
To celebrate this quintet of beers from the dons at Partizan we're giving away some fantastic prints from artist Alec Doherty (pictured below) each alongside a six-pack! For every Partizan purchase loyalty members make you'll gain an entry into the draw, with the winners announced next week. Of course there's also double loyalty points on the fab five to help you get stuck in...

A match made in heaven from the get-go we've long been fans of Miguel Barclay's ingenious, affordable, culinary exploits. With five bestselling cookbooks, an Observer Food award, a New York-style pizza by the slice restaurant (conveniently down the road from our NW5 shop) and a passion for all things brewing we're delighted to help launch his first ever beer with Alphabet.
A fellow long-time admirer of session stunner Charlie Don't Surf, here Miguel's Pizza Pale uses similar Antipodean hops for radiant citrus goodness to pair with that inevitable end of the week za! For an extra slice of fun if you purchase eight or more beers you'll receive a beautifully branded glass to accompany. Worry not though, we've got also got a re-up on the aforementioned SIPA plus Haribo in a glass Juice Springsteen, the ever-impressive table beer Small Packages, and a bonkers Key Lime Vegan Milkshake IPA, Florida Nan.

Thanks, Whoever You Were is Howling Hops' singular, barrel-aged winter release and boy are we pumped! A colossal barleywine aged in a combination of American and Japanese whisky barrels for 8 months, it's the culmination of a serious amount of work, and patience. With moreish vanilla and spice notes woven into decadent malty goodness, it's indeed, "sturdy stuff for strange times". Now sold out from the brew crew themselves, this rather special Christmas-day ready sharer is available in tiny quantities. And, yes we just dropped the c-bomb.

The Hackney-heroes are back in the shops with plenty of favourites, and the second part of this week's sharer spectacular. Their ubiquitous crispy Pils and luscious, yet sessionable Railway Porter return, plus much needed malty reinforcements in the form of their Brick Field Brown and ever-smashable Pale & XPA. Their duo of showstoppers begins with an annual effort, Old Greg's Barley Wine. A thing of legend in the Five Points brewing calendar, each vintage is bottle-aged for a year before making its way onto the shelves. This time around boozy sweetness dominates alongside flavours of apricot jam, molasses and brandy. While their whisky-barrel (Auchentoshan for the curious) aged Grand Stout spends 11 months cosied up for tobacco, roasted coffee, toffee, a little spice and sweet oak notes. Special doesn't quite cover it.
