Week Commencing February 18th 2018
Hello Clapton Craft subscribers, welcome to the first newsletter of 2018! It's been a busy couple of months here in the Forest Hill store (south of the river rules!) with the shop going from strength-to-strength so thank you all for your support, patronage and patience whilst we grow into a store that craft loving locals and Londoners can be very happy with.
Fingers crossed everyone's been keeping up-to-date with their closest store via Twitter and simply popping in to talk to any one of our great staff. We've seen some strong new releases of beer, wine and spirits up to now and we're only in February!
Anyway, lets kick things off with a newsletter that gets straight to the point. Here's what's happening at a store near you this week.
N E W Beer this week includes Verdant I Played Bass on that Tune IPA and the much loved PulpDIPA plus Even Sharks Need Cheeseburgers, an IPA brewed in collaboration with Left Handed Giant who also release Finzels Reach IPA this week, a combination of Centennial, Ekuanot, Galaxy and Simcoe hops. Siren spoils dark-beer-loving drinkers with a delivery of: Salted Caramel Shattered Dream, barrel-aged Shattered Dream and Odyssey 008, a barrel-aged dark sour blend and, what's a dark beer round-up without the kooky cuckoo Omnipollo? In-store Events
Partizan x Kernel - Free. In-store tasting
Pop this one in the diary folks, it's going to be big! Jeff from Partizan and Michaela from Kernel will be in-store handing out samples of the recently released 'Dual Runinngs'. Read on and be amazed, the brief quote from Partizan is quite something.
''This beer is part of a collaborative process that we have been working on with The Kernel Brewery, just down the road from us. Back in the summer of 2015, we trucked the mash from the first runnings from the mash (high-gravity, sugar-rich part) down to Partizan's brewhouse which we used to brew our high-alcohol Quad.
The guys at the Kernel then used the (weaker, lower-gravity) second runnings to create a lower alcohol, mixed fermentation Saison, subsequently aged in oak foudres. The concept is that by sharing the base mash for two very different style beers the finished beers could then be reunited in the glass to create a fascinating drinking experience.'' - Partizan
And there we have it. Didn't I tell you! Now find out where and when and don't be late.

Office Beer Subscription
Here at Clapton Craft we love good beer (obviously) and there's nothing we like better than raiding the shop fridge for a few cold ones at the end of a long day. A little while back we were enjoying a couple of such beers in the office when a hop shaped light bulb went off - not everyone works in an office with a fridge full of craft beer at hand. But you could, and probably should, so we set about creating an office beer delivery service so you never have to rush out for a few warm Carlings on Friday afternoon again.
Join our office beers subscription service and get boxes of beer delivered to your workplace every week or fortnight anywhere in London.
Each week we showcase one of our favourite London or UK breweries, putting together a mixed box with a range of styles and deliver it to your office on Thursday. Each box contains 24 beers and costs £50+VAT including delivery.
Sign up here and we'll do the rest.
There is no minimum subscription length and you can cancel or put on hold at any time.

The feedback given these past 11 weeks has been extremely valuable and I can't thank you enough!
So, what's changing? Well, not a lot really. Newsletters will no longer be emailed weekly, but fortnightly, every Thursday afternoon. Sweetdram, champions of the Twitter handle #DrinkNiceThings and the creators of 'Escubac', a French apero distilled using aromatic botanicals, including caraway, cardamom, nutmeg and citrus, coloured with saffron and 'Moonshine Liqueur', an unaged whiskey infused with sour cherries, allspice, coriander and hibiscus will be in-store handing out samples and chatting to customers about their contemporary reimagining of forgotten liqueurs between 5:30 - 7:30pm Friday, July 14th.
''Liqueurs tend to be used sparingly in cocktails, as a secondary ingredient known as a modifier. However, we designed Escubac to be dry and balanced, which means it can be handled like a gin and poured as a base spirit.'' - Sweetdram

Battle of the Beer Shops - Behind the Scenes
On a sunny Tuesday the Clapton Craft co-founders and team made their way to Tottenham Vale to brew a collaboration beer with the guys at Affinity Brew Co for LBC's (London Beer City) 'Battle of the Beer Shops' - Thursday, August 10th. Mother Kelly's, Paradise Row E2.
Throughout June we’d been firing ideas back and forth - Steve and Ben at Affinity were feeling inspired by the wealth of UK hops available and we in the shops have always had a soft spot for black IPA's, try as they might to breakthrough into a well-loved and popular style - Beavertown 'Black Betty', Buxton 'Imperial Black' and the more recent 'Something Something Dark Side' by Weird Beard to name a few.
'Socks and Sandals' (a name in progress) is, as mentioned an all UK dry hopped Black IPA with a huge helping of Northdown, Challenger and Bramling Cross hops. What each hop brings to the brew is a spicy, dark berry like sweetness with a touch of bright citrus and fresh pine.
Socks and Sandals will be ready in a just under a few weeks and we can't wait to share it with you all! Check our Twitter feed for updates and see what else Affinity are getting up to.
Check out the link to see Socks and Sandals BIPA bubbling in the tank.
